WellSouth is funded to deliver and support a wide range of programmes in primary care. Click here for a full list of funded programmes.
Our main aim is to enable the people of Otago-Southland to maintain and improve their health and wellbeing, whether its quitting smoking, managing a medical condition, or working with communities to improve their health. We do this by supporting patients to enrol with general practices or community providers, and offering our own clinical services to help GPs provide better care for you. These services include: clinical pharmacists, counselling, dietitians, falls prevention, and long-term conditions nursing.
Examples of what we do:
Organise primary health care services in Otago and Southland.
Support primary health care providers in the south
Reduce health disparity, promote equity and improve access to health care.
Ensure quick and easy access to primary health care, when you need it.
Maintain and improve the wellness of all people in Otago and Southland.
Promote healthy lifestyles.
Support access to screening and prevention services.
Work with other health providers to improve integrated care.
Measure and understand health data, so we can make better funding decisions.
WellSouth is a not-for-profit organisation. We hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) in November of each year, which the public can attend. Our Annual Reports and are available for all members of the public.
