SACS (Substance and Choices Scale)

SACS is a tool used to identify and address substance use issues in young people. It has been developed and tested in New Zealand, specifically for our youth.  

FREE training for anyone working with at risk youth using the SACS to; Screen young people for alcohol and other drug (AoD) Issues.

  • Use a motivational approach to talk to youth about AoD issues.
  • Provide a brief intervention with youth who have only had mild issues or have turned down support from an AoD service.
  • How to refer to appropriate AoD services
  • Strategies to reduce harm in young people using substances
