WellSouth helps former refugees locating to Dunedin and Invercargill to access primary care and mental health support.
Mental health and well-being support is provided directly by WellSouth clinicians or when appropriate by Southern DHB or community-based mental health service.
Accessing the service, is by referral from a general practice. GP referrals are triaged centrally by WellSouth in order to connect individuals with the most appropriate service for their needs.
Additional primary care support for former refugees includes:
-
Funded visits at general practice for first two years
-
Support for prescriptions for 2 years
-
Coordination of interpreter services
-
Longer appointments recognising need for interpreters
