Nicotine Replacement Therapy

The evidence shows that people have a much greater chance of stopping smoking successfully if they have behavioural support alongside nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), which is why Quit Cards have recently been discontinued.

Authorised Smokefree Providers (those have completed the Smokefree ABC training) are able to issue their clients with written advice, that can be shared with or sent directly to a community pharmacy so that subsidised NRT can be dispensed.

For more information about Nicotine replacement therapy visit BPAC (for health professionals) or Healthify (for patients).

Te Whatu Ora have also produced a number of videos around NRT in English and Te Reo Māori, with subtitle options in English, Cook Islands Māori, Samoan and Tongan.
